He suggests six vital ways to make this happen:
- Memorize the gospel
- Pray the gospel
- Sing the gospel
- Review how the gospel has changed you
- Study the gospel
- Do not do these things alone
On February 28, 1869, Charles Spurgeon preached a sermon called "The Fullness of Jesus, The Treasury of Saints." What he said then still rings true now:
"There is an abiding fullness of truth in Christ; after you have heard it for 50 years, you see more of its fullness than you did at first . . . The theme of Jesus’ love is inexhaustible, though preachers may have dwelt upon it century after century, a freshness and fullness still remain."
It is that freshness and fullness that we hope to experience at New Hope Church as we prepare for Easter by reading "The Cross Centered Life" by C.J. Mahaney.
Books will be available for $5 on Sundays, March 7 and 14. A weekly corporate reading suggestion is available on the NHC website and will appear on this blog each week to help us journey together through the book.

Pastor Bryan,
ReplyDeleteThanks for asking ....
As for today I love to pray the gospel and I am currently working on memorizing Ephesians chapter 4. As for singing the gospel .... I am pretty sure most people around me at NHC on any given Sunday and/or my own children would be the first to say I "make a joyful noise", if that counts. :-)
Review how the gospel has changed me, and studing the gospel, are the areas that need to be continually addressed in my day to day life.
That is a very good tip particularly to those new to the
ReplyDeleteblogosphere. Simple but very precise info… Many thanks for
sharing this one. A must read article!
